INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA announced its sites for NCAA Championship events through 2018 and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics and the Biszantz Family Tennis Center have been selected as the host of the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Tennis Championships.
CMS will host the event May 21-26, 2018, marking the fourth time since 2009 that CMS will have hosted the NCAA team and individual championships. CMS hosted the men's championships in 2009 and then the inaugural combined men's and women's championships in 2011.
Before 2018, CMS has its sights set on hosting the 2014 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships which are set for May 19-24, 2014.
The award winning Biszantz Family Tennis Center was named the 2010 USTA Outstanding Facility of the Year for an educational institution. The tennis center features 12 Plexipave courts with professional standard lighting and permanent seating, as well as a team room and player lounge, locker rooms, and observation deck.
Both the CMS women’s and men’s tennis teams are coming off program-best seasons in 2013. The Athenas finished fourth in Division III in 2013 as they won 31 matches and were undefeated for much of the season. The Stags finished second in Division III in 2013, won 30 matches and were ranked No. 1 in the country for the first time in school history.
The Stags begin their 2014 regular season on Feb. 20 while the Athenas get their season underway Jan. 15.
