Claremont McKenna College has named Robin J. Aspinall Vice President for Business and Administration and Treasurer, it was announced today. Aspinall joins CMC following a 17-year career at Pomona College, where she now serves as Controller and Associate Treasurer.
"A national search has led us back to Claremont," said CMC President Pamela Gann. "Robin Aspinall's splendid leadership, exceptional qualifications, and unique understanding of The Claremont Colleges consortium, make her an excellent choice."
In her position, Aspinall will be responsible for development of the operating and capital budgets and campus planning and facilities management, and will work closely with the six other institutions of The Claremont Colleges --- Harvey Mudd College, Pitzer College, Pomona College, Scripps College, Claremont Graduate University, and The Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life Sciences. An officer of the College and a member of the senior staff of the College, Aspinall will staff two committees of the Board of Trustees: Budget and Audit and Buildings and Grounds. She will report to the President.
Prior to joining Pomona College in 1985, Aspinall, a certified public accountant, was a senior accountant at Coopers & Lybrand, where her areas of specialty included audit and accounting procedures with colleges and universities. She is a cum laude graduate in business administration of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and received a master's degree and certificate in executive management from Claremont Graduate University and the Peter F. Drucker Management Center.
Aspinall replaces Frederick "Fritz" Weis '65, who is retiring after a 20-year career with his alma mater. Following a one-year leave, Weis plans to return to CMC as an executive of the practice in accounting.
Aspinall resides in Upland with her husband and three children and is active in numerous local civic activities.
