CMC Named To The Princeton
Review's List Of 50 "Best Value"
Private Colleges For 2011

Claremont McKenna College is one of the nation's 50 "Best Value" private colleges and universities according to The Princeton Review and USA TODAY.
"The Princeton Review Best Value Colleges for 2010" features 100 schools50 public and 50 private colleges and universitieswhich were selected based on surveys of administrators and students. The selection criteria covered more than 30 factors in three areas: academics, costs of attendance, and financial aid, using the most recently reported data from each institution for its 2009-2010 academic year.
"Once again we are gratified that our strong financial aid program has been recognized by the Princeton Review," states Richard Vos, Vice President and Dean of Admission & Financial Aid. "Our three core policies of offering need-blind admission, meeting the full need of all admitted students, and not meeting that need with loans in the award packages, places Claremont McKenna College in very rare company."
In its profile of CMC on USA TODAY's web site, the editors at The Princeton Review commend the school for its "pleasant blend of intellectual seriousness and relaxed atmosphere," and its "reputation as one of the nation's best small schools." The college was also ranked in the following categories in the 2011 edition of The Best 373 Colleges: "Happiest Students" (#2); "Best Quality of Life" (#4); "Best Career Services" (#7); "School Runs Like Butter" (#7); "Dorms Like Palaces" (#8); "Most Politically Active Students" (#10); and "Most Popular Study Abroad Program" (#11) among others.
In each category, the top 10 "Best Value" colleges and universities are ranked; the remaining 40 are listed alphabetically. This year, Swarthmore College was ranked number one for the second year, with Duke University and Princeton College ranked second and third. USA Today's website contains an interactive feature that enables users to view in-depth details about each school, including cost of attendance and financial aid data, enrollment size, location and The Princeton Review's analysis of why each school was chosen as a "Best Value" college or university. The complete methodology for the survey can be viewed here on The Princeton Review website.
