Students interested in careers as attorneys or paralegals will have the opportunity to learn more about these fields in the upcoming CMC Law Symposium, Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum. The symposium features two presentations: from 4 to 5:30 p.m., the focus will be on opportunities in the paralegal field, followed from 7 to 9 p.m. by a panel discussion on various aspects of the legal profession. Both events are free of charge and open to all CMC students.
Trustee Julie Spellman '89, partner at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, will discuss the range of opportunity in the paralegal practice. She will be joined in the evening panel by: Jim Burgess '84, partner, Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton; Paul Irving, managing partner, Manatt, Phelps & Phillips; The Hon. Suzanne Horenstein Segal '82, U.S. Magistrate Judge; and Brent Tufeld '89, Los Angeles County public defender.
