The Claremont McKenna College department of mathematics will host the Spring 2008 Western Section Meeting of the American Mathematical Society on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4, with more than 200 hundred mathematicians expected to participate. In addition to four invited presentations, 10 special sessions will be giventhree of them co-organized by CMC mathematics faculty:
Operators, Functions and Linear Spaces, by Asuman Aksoy (CMC), Stephan Garcia (Pomona College), Mike O'Neill (CMC), Winston Ou (Scripps College);
Diophantine Problems and Discrete Geometry, by Matthias Beck (San Francisco State University), and Lenny Fukshansky (CMC);
Dynamical Systems and Differential Equations, by Alfonso Castro (Harvey Mudd College), Mario Martelli (CMC), and Adolfo Rumbos (Pomona College).
