Alumni Dinner Planned For 2008 Beijing Games

To commemorate the opening of the XXIX Olympiad in China this weekend, the Claremont McKenna College community is gathering in Beijing to celebrate the major event of the summer. CMC alumni, families, and friends attending the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games are invited to meet for dinner at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9 at the Shang Lin Yuan Restaurant in Beihai Park, near Beijing's city center.

The park, one of the oldest and most authentically preserved imperial gardens in China, was once a park for the royal family.

Saturday's dinner, the day after the Olympic opening ceremonies, will be hosted by Tao Li '02, along with Susan Matteson King '85 and Bick McSwiney '04. A special guest will be Diggory Rycroft '12, a CMC freshman from Beijing.

Those attending the dinner should enter from the East Gate of Beihai Park, then go north (right side) for 300 meters. Shang Lin Yuan Restaurant will be on the left side. Tickets do not have to be purchased to enter the park guests should announce themselves as attendees for the Shang Lin Yuan dinner.
