David Sadava, the Pritzker Family Foundation Professor of Biology in the Joint Science Department, will be the featured speaker for the Afternoon With a Professor event hosted by Dr. Norman Nemoy and Ms. Carole Curb-Nemoy P'07 from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13 in Beverly Hills. Sadava will reprise his lecture Cloning Cloning, the subject of an entertaining discussion he delivered during the inaugural fall freshmen class dinner on campus.
Sadava's address will describe some of the science behind cloning, as well as its potential.
Born in Canada, Sadava received his undergraduate education at Carleton University in Ottawa, and his Ph.D. in cell biology from the University of California, San Diego. Following postdoctoral work at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, he joined the Joint Science faculty in 1972. His current research is on cancer chemotherapy on human small-cell lung cancer. The author of more than 50 peer-reviewed research articles, he is a co-author of Life: The Science of Biology (1997), a leading text used at many of America's major universities.
