The group’s cover performance of the Oscar nominated Lady Gaga/Diane Warren anthem “Til It Happens To You” was picked by a panel of celebrity judges over finalists from Syracuse University and Hobart and William Smith colleges.
Diane Warren announced the results by email:
As a songwriter, I always get a charge out of seeing how different artists interpret the music, which is why this “Til It Happens to You” a cappella contest has been so cool.
We started with 14 incredible semifinalists who lent their voices and creativity to the movement to end campus sexual assault.
Thanks so much to everyone who submitted. Your arrangements, your voices and your overall performances are so inspiring.
Thanks also to everyone who voted. By sharing your favorites on Facebook, you also raised awareness.
And you left me and the other judges (LL Cool J, Cynthia Germanotta, David Foster, Catherine Hardwicke, Trudy Green, Bonnie Greenberg and Pentatonix) with an agonizing choice! But we finally decided on a winner.
Here we go...
Congratulations to The After School Specials!
If you haven’t seen their performance, watch it now and then share it with someone you know.
This experience has been so rad. Thanks again to all of you!
