59th Opening Convocation: Tuesday, Aug. 30

 

The 59th Annual Convocation ceremonies for the 2005-06 academic year will commence at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30 in McKenna Auditorium.

Tuesday's program will include the welcome of new and returning students by President Pamela Gann, as well as faculty and staff recognition awards for employees celebrating 25-, 30-, and 35-year anniversaries of service with the College. Claremont McKenna College Dean of the Faculty Jerome Garris will preside over faculty recognition awards, and Professor Roderic Ai Camp, the Phillip M. McKenna Professor of the Pacific Rim, will offer the keynote address: A Magical Life in the Liberal Arts, Memories of An Academic Private Eye.

Invocation and benediction will be led by Rabbi Leslie Bergson, chaplain of The Claremont Colleges; Professor of Music Michael D. Lamkin will lead participants in the song Claremont McKenna, sung to the tune of Loch Lomond.
