CMC supports DACA Students: Information and Resources

Good Afternoon CMC,

Following last week's news that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) has been rescinded, we held open discussions, workshops with immigration specialists, and numerous individual student meetings to support and educate students.  In addition, President Chodosh and other higher education leaders across the country have been actively investigating legislative solutions.

Again, I want to state clearly and forcefully that we stand with our DACA students.  Their safety, well-being, and success is of the utmost importance.  Since last fall, a designated DOS staff member serving as point person, has been working individually with each of our DACA students to address their unique situations.

Through these various conversations and programs, I have come to learn that many of you have friends, family members, relatives, and community members for whom you carry grave concerns.  You are seeking information to better support those in your lives who may be impacted.

We have developed an FAQ that answers common questions and describes our resources and support for DACA students now and into the future.  The attached FAQ document provides an easily accessible location to find the most current information.

This is a dynamic situation, and as such, we strongly encourage you to keep abreast of the most current news on this topic.  Please feel free to reach out to anyone in DOS with emerging questions or concerns.  Thanks for your shared commitment.

Take good care,

Sharon
