Imagination. Collaboration. Transformation.
In this special section of CMC Magazine, join us in commemorating a historic semester through CMC’s revolutionary integrated sciences vision; the opening of its marquee facility—the Robert Day Sciences Center (RDSC); the teaching of its inspired faculty; and the support of so many community members and partners who brought this powerful moment to life, ushering in a new era of learning and leadership across every discipline on campus for generations to come.

RDSC | Spaces
The Quantum Library. The Agora. The McElwee Forum. The Innovation Studio. Fourteen multi-use labs and eight terraces. The DayBreak Café for a quick bite and quiet conversation. Each space inside the Robert Day Sciences Center is full of surprises—and tells a unique story about intentionality, interaction, and a proud, supportive CMC community.
The BIG Picture
What does Bjarke Ingels, founder of BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group and creative visionary behind the Robert Day Sciences Center, admire about CMC’s newest architectural wonder?
RDSC | Angles
Look up, down, side to side, level to level—on any given day, there’s motion and stimulation all around you inside the Robert Day Sciences Center. The building’s hashtag-style design, a series of parallel buildings stacked on top of one another, is meant to initiate direction and re-direction, inspire invention and re-invention.
Feeling the Pull
The power of Damián Ortega’s Magnetic Field resonates throughout the Robert Day Sciences Center, where it hangs high above the atrium.
RDSC | Details
The openness and spaciousness of the Robert Day Sciences Center immediately draws you in. But look closely—and don’t be afraid to touch (or even write on some designated surfaces)! The finer textures and finishes, right down to the ubiquitous Douglas Fir, give the building its true depth, character, and playfulness.
Thank You
to all external partners and everyone in our CMC community who made the Robert Day Sciences Center and this moment in the College’s history possible.
