Stags Soccer Sweet Again
The CMS men’s soccer team matched its deepest NCAA Tournament run since 1985 by winning a regional hosted by Colorado College this past fall. The 2025 Stags joined the 2019 squad as recent regional champions who advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16. They did so in dramatic fashion, as Rafael Otero ’25 scored in the closing minutes of overtime to give the Stags a 2-1 win over No. 5 Colorado College before they eventually fell 1-0 at No. 3 Middlebury on a late goal. CMS also had a dominant win on its home field in the SCIAC Championship, getting off to a 4-0 lead at halftime before defeating Chapman 5-1 behind two goals from John Laidlaw ’26. NCAA Tennis Back at Biszantz
The Biszantz Family Tennis Center will serve as the host site for the NCAA Division III Tennis Championships from May 19-27 for the sixth time since the facility opened in 2009. The last time CMS hosted in 2018, the Athenas earned the program’s first national title. The Stags were ranked No. 2 in the preseason poll after finishing as the runner-up last year, while the Athenas were ranked No. 3—and both hope to be challenging for the title on their home courts.
