The Center for Civic Engagement strives to foster personal and character development in CMC students through co-curricular programming in the areas of service, citizenship, and sustainability. Specifically, our goals are to:

  • Serve as a resource center for students interested in community, national and international service by developing relationships with a variety of groups in need of volunteers and providing support for student involvement
  • Encourage sustainability practices in students’ everyday lives through education and resource allocation
  • Encourage an active role in the political process on a community, state, and national level
  • Develop active participation in public life and community problem solving to strengthen social capital in one’s community
  • Develop a strong sense of civic responsibility through involvement with civic leaders and awareness about individual responsibility
  • Support the academic curriculum at the College with service-learning programming and events focused on ethics and responsibility
  • Promote support of the arts and cultural events as a platform for community engagement
  • Extend our programming to the College community as a whole, including faculty, staff, and alumni
  • Enhance community awareness of campus events related to CCE’s mission
