A Welcome From Hiram Chodosh
Dear Friends and Colleagues:
Welcome back to school! I hope that everyone enjoyed a restful and rejuvenating break.
Over the holidays, we celebrated a successful conclusion to 2013. Our applicant pool for the class of 2018 exceeded 6,000 (an all-time high and 9% increase from last year). Fundraising continued to exceed expectations. In the first six months of the new fiscal year, which started on July 1, we raised over 80% of our annual goal. Our faculty and students continued to reach new levels of intellectual, social, and athletic success.
In the early weeks of 2014 we have been working hard to build on this momentum in pursuit of our key priorities. We have launched The Student Imperative, a new initiative designed to raise money for student aid, support innovative programs that increase the value of our CMC experience, and reinforce our commitment to personal and social responsibility. At the same time, we are moving forward with key improvements to our campus and learning environment with a continuation of our Mid-Quad renovations and the February 11 groundbreaking for Roberts Pavilion, our new fitness and recreation center.
In the upcoming weeks, I will be reporting in more detail on our progress with these and other important priorities, and I will be eager to receive your ideas and input.
In the meantime, I wish you all a great beginning to the spring semester. I am very excited to work together with you in 2014!
Very truly yours,
