September 27, 2007, Ronald A. Heifetz, King Hussein bin Talal Lecturer in Public Leadership, Harvard University and Cofounder of the Center for Public Leadership, Kennedy School, Harvard, whose research focuses on how to build adaptive capacity in societies, businesses, and nonprofit organizations, spoke at the Athenaeum.

October 10, 2007, Neil Budde, Vice President and Editor in Chief, Yahoo News, Sports and Finance, Yahoo! Inc. discussed governance in the new media in his presentation at the Athenaeum.

November 14, 2007, Gregg Easterbrook, journalist, author and lecturer, contributing editor of The Atlantic Monthly, The New Repoblic, and The Washington Monthly, and a visiting fellow at the Brookings Institution addressed the organization and accountability of "green"industries in an era of climate change in his talk at the Athenaeum.

March 3, 2008, Joel L. Fleischman, Professor of Law and Public Policy, and Director of the Heyman Center on Ethics, Public Policy and the Professions, Duke University, will discuss his latest book, The Foundation: A Great American Secret; How Private Wealth is Changing the World.

March 24, 2008, Robert Rosenthal, Distinguished Professor of Psychology, University of California, Riverside, will relate his research on the role of self-fulfilling prophecy in everyday life and in laboratory situations, to governance in 21st century organizations.

- October 4, 2006, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Olympic Medalist and Founder of the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Youth Foundation, spoke at the Athenaeum.
- October 25, 2006, Joanne Cuilla, Professor at the Jepsen School of Leadership at the University of Richmond, spoke at KLI Advisory Board Member Nicholas Warner’s class at CMC.
- November 9, 2006, Cynthia Cooper, Former VP at WorldCom, spoke at the Athenaeum, addressing moral failures and the tragedy of people and crisis.
- November 15, 2006, Roy Prosterman, recipient of the inaugural Henry R.Kravis Prize in Leadership, spoke at the Athenaeum.
- January 29, 2007, David DeCremer, Social Psychology Professor from Tilberg University, spent two days speaking to students, professors, and at the Athenaeum. He visited as part of KLI’s ongoing Young Leadership Scholars Series.
- February 24, 2007, Howard Gardner, a keynote speaker at the 17th Annual Kravis-de Roulet conference, gave a lecture on “Positioning Future Leaders on the Good Work Track”. The luncheon event was held at the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum.
- March 29, 2007, Fazle Abed, 2007 winner of the Henry R. Kravis Award in Leadership spoke at a luncheon event at the Athenaeum. Abed is the founder of one of the worlds, largest development organizations, and provides leadership in microfinance, health education, and social development.

November 14, 2005, Jay Conger was installed as the inaugural Kravis Research Professor in Leadership Studies endowed by Trustee Henry R. Kravis '67, founding partner, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Company. Following the ceremony, Conger, a world expert on interpersonal and organizational communication, executive coaching, leadership development and program design, spoke about "Why CEO's Fail".

Neal Dempsey, Managing General Partner, Bay Partners, visited Claremont McKenna College as a UNOVA President's Leaders Forum speaker. Mr. Dempsey is a CMC Trustee and member of the KLI Advisory Board. A welcome breakfast was held at the President's house with eleven students in attendance followed by a video taped interview conducted by Maggie Fromm. Approximately 25 people attended the luncheon presentation at the new Claremont Boulevard offices.

April 2005, Bruce Avolio, chair of the organizational behavior division of the Academy of Management and Clifton Chair in Leadership at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, . He is an expert on leadership with research on authentic leadership development.

February 26, 2005, Mitchell Lee Marks, addressed the 15th Annual Kravis-de Roulet Leadership Conference attendees as keynote luncheon speaker, presenting the topic "Workplace Recovery after Major Organization Transition: Best Practices in Leading Organizational Change."

February 25, 2005, Joanne Ciulla, professor and Coston Family Chair in leadership and ethics, Jepson School of Leadership Studies, University of Richmond, spoke on "Leadership in a Morally Divided World" at the speaker dinner kick-off of the 15th Annual Kravis-de Roulet Leadership Conference.

February 24, 2005, Gregory J. Boyle, S.J. is a Jesuit priest and founder/director of Homeboy Industries/Jobs for a Future, Los Angeles, an employment referral center for at-risk youth. Father Boyle presented a talk entitled "Tattoos on the Heart: Empowering Those for Whom Hope is Foreign."

January 28, 2004 Coleen M Rowley, an FBI special agent, is the author of the 13-page letter to FBI Director Robert Mueller about pre-9/11 evidence of terrorist activity. Ms. Rowley based her remarks on Mark Twain's statement, "Always do right--this will gratify some and astonish the rest." This event was held in the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum.

October 13, 2003 Paul Rogat Loeb, associated scholar, Seattle Center for Ethical Leadership, and board chair of Washington's Peace and Justice Alliance spoke at the Athenaeum about social leadership and commitment and his book Soul of a Citizen: Living with Conviction in a Cynical Time. www.soulofacitizen.org.

March 10, 2003 Thomas Metcalf, professor of history and Indian studies, U.C. Berkeley, author of Ideologies of the Raj (1995) and An Imperial Vision: Indian Architecture and Britain's Raj (1989), discussed "Gandhi: Imperialist, Nationalist, Hindu?"

January 30, 2003 Peter Olney, Associate Director of the Institute for Labor and Employment, has extensive experience in labor conflict and negotiations. He discussed "Conflict Management and Resolution: Labor and Unions", and offered insightful information on labor conflicts and the use of the Taft-Hartley Act by the federal government.

September 17, 2002 William Black, discussed "The Myths about the S&L Debacle and the Ongoing Financial Scandals." William Black's research and writings deal with criminal justice policy issues such as white-collar crime, financial institutions, savings and loan industry reform, public corruption and public finance. Black is assistant professor, LBJ School of Public Affairs, University of Texas at Austin, and visiting scholar at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics, Santa Clara University.

February, 2002 K. M. Thiagarajan leant his expertise to the Kravis Leadership Institute for an intensive week as Leader-in-Residence during February. Among scheduled activities were a formal presentation at the Athenaeum, a speech at the International Place of the Claremont Colleges, and the presentation of a paper at the 12th annual Kravis-de Roulet Conference.

February 27, 2001 Legendary basketball coach John Wooden received this year's Henry Kravis Outstanding Leadership Award in a ceremony held at Claremont McKenna College's Athenaeum. The theme of the evening was "A Celebration of Leadership and Mentoring."
