WebDAV - Network File Access on the Web

Introduction

WebDAV stands for "Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning". Using WebDAV to access your network files is similar to File Transfer Protocol (FTP) access, however, because it is based on the Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP), it is more accessible (no special clients required) and the traffic can be encrypted removing the need for Virtual Private Networking (VPN).

Please Note:

  • Saving files directly to WebDAV (i.e., from within an application, such as Word, Excel, or Internet Explorer) does not work reliably and consistently across all platforms. For best results, save the file to your computer first, and then upload it.
  • File and folder names that include certain characters are not WebDAV-friendly. For a list of unsupported characters, see Unsupported characters.
