Philanthropists
Annual Fund 2003-2004

"Claremont McKenna College provides students with opportunities to explore and open themselves up to new experiences—that's where true education lies. Programs like International Place and off-campus study encourage learning both inside and outside the classroom. The College provides the infrastructure that enables these experiences to occur. I participate in the Annual Fund to show my gratitude for these experiences."

Philanthropy In Action

CMC's alumni of the last decade make giving to the College a priority. These new philanthropists—Julie Wong, Peter Hatcher, Akshata Murty, and thousands of alumni like them—know a good thing when they see it. And they know that their gifts contribute directly to the College's excellence and to the experience of CMC students.

Julie Wong '94 majored in government at CMC. She now puts her CMC education to use as the Deputy Mayor for Mayor Jim Hahn in Los Angeles.

Peter Hatcher '97 is an active volunteer in the CMC Alumni Association, contributing his time and talents on the Giving Committee. Since graduation, he has worked in investment banking and private equity in Los Angeles and New York City.

Akshata Murty '02 came to CMC from India, expecting to return after graduation. While at CMC she made the decision to remain in the U.S., and is currently working at Deloitte & Touche LLP in the dispute consulting practice.

"One of the best aspects of CMC's curriculum is its focus on preparing students for the working world. I use the skills and information I learned in my CMC government classes every day in my current job. I don't think you get that kind of classroom education at every college. The Annual Fund ensures that CMC will continue to provide this kind of experience for future students."

Julie Wong '94

"Educationally, socially and professionally, attending CMC has proven to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. I know that by contributing to the Alumni Fund I'm helping new students share that experience while investing in the school's academic reputation."
