Need Blind
Meet 100% of Demonstrated Need
No Packaged Loans

Many students and their families are frightened by the seemingly prohibitive expense of private colleges. They understand why first-rate education must be costly, but they still do not see how they can afford it. Any student who needs financial assistance is encouraged to apply for financial aid at Claremont McKenna College.

CMC is committed to

Need Blind - CMC's Need-Blind Admission policy simply means that a family's financial resources will not influence a student's admission decision. This policy encourages students from all socioeconomic backgrounds to apply to CMC since their admission decision is based solely on their academic record.

Meeting 100% of Your Need - CMC is fully committed to meeting 100% of demonstrated financial need for all admitted US citizens and permanent residents.

No Packaged Loans - As of 2008, CMC has instituted a No-Packaged Loan policy for all incoming students. This means that loans have been replaced with grants and scholarships (if applicable). A student's financial aid award will also normally include work-study to assist in meeting his/her determined financial need. Both federal and institutional loans are available to families should they need them, however CMC will not include these loans in a student's financial aid package unless a loan is requested to assist with a family's own contribution.

Students who do not apply for or do not receive need-based financial aid upon admission are not guaranteed they will receive financial aid or be considered for financial aid in future years while enrolled at Claremont McKenna College. Each year financial aid consideration will be determined based on the availability of funds.

Any student who needs financial assistance is encouraged to apply for financial aid at Claremont McKenna College. Please be aware that Merit-Based Scholarships are strictly determined by the Admission Office. For more information regarding CMC's three merit-based scholarships, please contact them directly.
