Assessment at Claremont McKenna College
Claremont McKenna College is committed to improving student learning through thoughtful and ongoing academic program assessment. Assessment is faculty-driven and faculty-supervised. It is a collaborative process that includes faculty, students, staff, administrators, and others. It involves establishing student learning outcomes, measuring/observing and documenting the extent to which outcomes are achieved, findings ways to improve, and implementing improvement plans.
Claremont McKenna College is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).
WSCUC is recognized as an institutional accrediting agency, and reviewed periodically for renewal, by the US Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). WSCUC accreditation aids institutions in developing and sustaining effective educational programs and assures the educational community and the general public that an accredited institution has met high standards of quality and effectiveness. The Commission accredits institutions rather than individual programs. Therefore, in addition to assessing the academic quality and educational effectiveness of institutions, the Commission emphasizes institutional structures, processes, and resources.
